Kentville Fire Department

Yesterday, I was honoured to join the Kentville Volunteer Fire Department to celebrate three members who have given a combined 155 years of service to Kentville and the surrounding communities.

Captain Hugh Stronach retired in December after 35 years of service. Captain Carl Knox retired in January after 55 years, and Captain Clem Fairclough is retiring after an incredible 65 years.

It is hard to put that kind of commitment into words. Each of these men has spent decades serving their neighbours and helping the department carry out its work.

Thank you, Hugh, Carl and Clem, for everything you have given to our communities. Thank you as well to the families who have supported you through those years of service.

It was a pleasure to be part of this celebration. Wishing all three of you a very happy retirement!
