New Student Housing at NSCC Kingstec in Kentville

It was great to see construction today on new student housing at NSCC Kingstec in Kentville. Happy to be joined by colleagues, Minister Young, Minister Lohr, MLA Palmer, MLA Sheehy-Richard, MLA Bowlby, Mayor Corkum, Mayor Zabian, Principal Jason Clarke and the many staff and students. I was also thrilled to get a tour of their trades workshops

The new residence will add approximately 90 student beds on campus, with completion currently expected in fall 2028.

This is an important project for Kingstec students, but it can also have a positive impact on the broader community.

Creating dedicated student housing can help ease some of the pressure on our local rental market, leaving more options available for families, workers and others looking for a place to live.

It also supports access to education and training here in the Valley. Kingstec plays an important role in preparing students and apprentices for the workforce, and having housing available close to campus can make that training more accessible.

There is still plenty of work ahead, but today was a good milestone for Kingstec, Kentville and the Annapolis Valley.

I look forward to watching the project take shape over the coming months and years.
