2026 Spring Conference of the Nova Scotia Federation of Municipalities

It was an incredibly informative, with meaningful discussions on the challenges our municipalities are facing and, just as importantly, the opportunities ahead. From infrastructure and Storm Water Management to energy efficiency and community capacity, there was no shortage of valuable insight.

One of the biggest takeaways for me was the importance of collaboration. Many of the challenges highlighted, especially for smaller or rural communities, cannot be solved in isolation. Whether it’s accessing funding, finding skilled contractors, or coordinating large projects, partnerships and shared approaches are key.

What stood out just as much were the success stories. Across Nova Scotia, communities are finding innovative ways to move projects forward, improve services, and make the most of available resources. Hearing those real examples reinforces that progress is happening, and there is a lot we can learn from each other.
