Youth at the Legislature
It was a pleasure to bring students to the Legislature on April 22 for a tour and a debate. It was incredibly encouraging to see how engaged they were throughout the day. We had been planning this visit for the past few months, and it was clear how much work the students had put in to prepare. They came ready with their talking points and did a wonderful job debating their chosen topic, a 4-day work week, after being divided into government and opposition. Thank you to Kyle f

White Rock Community Center Celebrates 40 Years
Happy 40th Anniversary White Rock Community Center ! What a great turn out last night as the community and hard working volunteers celebrated 40 years. Stories, pictures, and the wonderful community spirit filled the room. Thank you to all the volunteers, both current and past, for making so many memories. This 40th anniversary is not only a celebration of a building, but of the people behind it—the volunteers, organizers, and community members whose time, care, and dedicatio

New Apple Processing Equipment Supports Nova Scotia Growers
This week I was pleased to attend this important announcement alongside my colleagues, Minister of Agriculture Greg Morrow and MLAs Chris Palmer, Melissa Sheehy-Richard, and Damian Stoilov. Thank you to Rebecca Tran and Station Food Hub for the work you are doing in partnership with the Department of Agriculture. This is a meaningful solution that connects growers directly with the institutions receiving these apples, creating real benefits for so many Nova Scotians. See the

Count Your Blessings Child Care
Yesterday I popped in to Count Your Blessings Child Care in Coldbrook and had a wonderful chat and tour with Karla. They have a great space inside and lots of room outside. Count Your Blessings has been serving the community for 17 years and cares for toddlers, preschool and has an afterschool program. I was able to meet some of the dedicated staff and see the creative art the kids were working on.

Legislative Session and Budget 2026-27
As we continue through the spring sitting of the Legislature, I wanted to take a moment to share an update on where things stand, what we have been focused on in the House, and some of the key highlights from the 2026-27 provincial budget. This session has been a busy and, at times, difficult one. There has been strong debate on a number of issues, which is an important part of the process. People have every right to voice their opinions and advocate for the issues they care

January Blew in Cold!
It’s been another busy and inspiring stretch here in the Valley, connecting with people who make such a difference in our communities. I want to take a moment to recognize the incredible work being done by our Public Works team. Throughout a winter marked by significant snowfall, our plow drivers and crews have been working around the clock, doing what they do best—keeping our roads as safe and passable as possible. Their dedication, long hours, and commitment to the safety

December On the Run
This month has been full and inspiring as I connected with communities across Kings South and celebrated the people who make our region so special. I popped into the sold-out Night Kitchen show at the Al Whittle Theatre, attended the Kings County Federation of Agriculture AGM, and had the pleasure of experiencing the very first ROOTED Gala in support of 4-H youth. I spent time door-knocking, hosting my monthly pop-up, and chatting with Acadia University students to hear their

October/November in the Valley
Minister Barbara Adams, MLA for Eastern Passage, Kirk Deor, and I recently toured the Wolfville Nursing Home and met with Kirk and his team. Throughout the fall, it has been a privilege to connect with organizations, volunteers, and families across Kings South, and to also join fellow Ministers and MLAs in kicking off this year’s Devour! The Food Film Fest—an exciting celebration that showcases the creativity, hospitality, and community spirit that make Nova Scotia so special
